GF & Healthy in Bandon, Oregon
Well, old habits are hard to break. Found a restaurant in Bandon, Oregon that could accommodate gluten free meals. I had a delicious vegetable gluten-free pasta dish that was very good at Lord Bennett’s Restaurant. I was expecting a bowl of mostly gf pasta with a few cut up veggies sparsley placed throughout the pasta. I was pleasantly surprised to be given a mostly veggie dish with a little amount of tiny gf pasta at the bottom of the bowl. This dish did have Parmesan cheese so it is not vegan but was delicious with a wide variety of veggies. This is not a gluten free restaurant so be aware cross contamintion could be a problem. BUT…
They also offered gluten free bread with butter prior to dinner. Now I do not do well with dairy and gluten free bread has no nutritional value, so you would think I would pass on it. Like I said old habits are hard to break. I am on vacation so I feel I need to treat myself to something I should not have. I ended up eating 3 slices of bread with butter and that was only because they gave me 3 slices…I could have eaten more! Note the bread plate in the background of the photo with only crumbs left.😬
Now for something completely healthy! I found a great place that offers fresh juicing, it’s called Rawsome Juices & Smoothies. It is located on Ray’s Shopping Center at 77 Michigan Ave. SE Bandon, Oregon. 541-551-1089. I had juicing greens and a ginger shot, it was a good way to start off my morning and clear out my digestive system after having dairy the night before.
For lunch I ate at Tony’s Crab Shack located at 155 1st Street, Bandon, Oregon 541-347-2875. They do not have a fryer or use breading so the cross contamination is at a minimal (they serve sandwiches). I had the fish tacos which are gluten free and they were very fresh and tasty. My husband wanted a little goodie so we went to the Coastal Mist Fine Chocolates and Desserts. Ask one of the managers and they will direct you to the gluten free desserts. They are delicious, there is nothing better than a fine hand made chocolate! Yes…I had some😬
